Its combat system is built around clear visual telegraphs that allow the player to immediately understand when they are in danger and when they are safe. Enemy attacks are communicated through readable warning indicators before they happen, giving the player a fair chance to react, dodge, reposition, or counterattack.
The same principle applies to the player’s own attacks. The game clearly communicates the range, timing, and impact area of the player’s abilities, making it easy to understand whether an attack will successfully hit an enemy or miss its target. This creates a combat experience that feels precise, fair, and skill-based.
By relying on telegraphs for both enemy and player actions, Biomorph makes combat more readable and strategic. Players are encouraged to observe patterns, react quickly, and make informed decisions instead of relying purely on guesswork. This approach supports fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay while keeping every encounter understandable and visually clear.
Types of Telegraphs
All telegraphs have a clearly defined border. Most telegraphs also include a moving line inside the marked area, which provides additional information about the type and timing of the attack or ability being shown.
This moving line functions like a progress indicator or cast-time bar. The telegraph is completed when the moving line reaches the defined border.
Single-Effect Abilities
A telegraph with a moving line that moves away from the caster represents a single-effect ability.
This type of ability only takes effect once the cast time has finished. For example, if you are standing inside an enemy telegraph, you will not take damage immediately. Instead, the damage is applied only when the moving line reaches the border and the ability is triggered.
This gives the player a clear window of time to react, dodge, or move out of the affected area before the ability is executed.
Continuous-Effect Abilities
A telegraph with a moving line that moves toward the caster represents a continuous-effect ability.
This type of ability remains active until the spell ends. For example, if you are standing inside an allied telegraph, you will continue to receive healing as long as you remain within the area of effect and the ability is still active.
Telegraphs without a moving line are also considered continuous-effect abilities. These telegraphs do not display a visible time limit and remain active for as long as the ability itself persists.
