Apropos Luther

On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation, this interactive installation offers visitors—across a total of five stations—the opportunity to engage playfully with the life and work of Martin Luther. In the process, the core ideas of the Reformation movement are thoroughly explored and placed within a contemporary context.

Apropos Luther explores both the person and the work of the Reformer. At each of the individual stations, connections are drawn to the hospitable festive banquets and the fundamental tenets of the Reformation.
The installation is realized both on the forecourt and within the basilica, with the larger portion situated indoors. The two areas are linked—effectively on either side of the façade—by a projecting element.

As a consistent formal expression, the installation architecture symbolizes the influence of Martin Luther’s work on the events of past centuries—from the Middle Ages to the modern era. Emerging from this form are various spaces and levels situated at different heights. Five stations encourage visitors to engage with the themes of the Reformation in an interactive and playful manner.

My Areas of Responsibility
